Summer Reading List

Y’all I love summer. And I hate summer. It throws off this Type A-OCD personality because so much of what our summer looks like is kinda “fly by the seat of our pants.”

With three boys in the house all summer our schedule can go from perfectly planned to quasi-organized chaos in the blink of an eye. Anyone relate?

One thing I do love about summer is our trips to the library and making a summer reading list. While my 9 year old is eating up Dog Man and The Adventures of Captain Underpants….mama’s got a list of books I’m working through as well. And I thought I would share them with you. Because, y’all these books are awesome!!!!

1. A Fierce Love by Shauna Shanks.

I had the privilege of getting an advance copy of this book last week. Literally read the whole book in 2 days. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!
For anyone who is married, or anyone who has felt the struggle to love someone through hard circumstances, Shauna’s book is for you! Her raw honesty, vulnerability and faithfulness to obedience is inspiring. I’m not even kidding, y’all, I’ve already passed it along to a friend. It’s great!

2. Doing Busy Better by Glynnis Whitwer

Have you figured out I’m the kinda girl who likes to get a lot done and keep going going going???? Well, if you haven’t yet….I am. The last few months the Lord has been drawing my heart really close to home and helping me protect my schedule and my to-do list. When I stepped into the launch team for this book I had no idea how much Glynnis’s words would affirm the stillness God was speaking to me.

Not only is this book encouraging for those of us who like to keep life busy, this book is jam packed with wisdom on how to be more productive and less stressed!!!! Y’all. Anything that garners me efficiency is right up my alley. Seriously a simple read with so much goodness packed into it!!!!

FYI: Y’all this book is on pre-order right now and you WANT to do the pre-order because you’re going to get a nice set of goodies with it! Doing Busy Better officially releases July 4th!!!!!

3. Unsinkable Faith by Tracie Miles

I LOVE the verse in 2 Corinthians 10 about taking thoughts and arguments captive to Christ. The power of our words and our thoughts is HUGE! So when Tracie released this book recently I knew I needed to read it. It did not disappoint. For anyone (particularly us ladies) who can go from totally okay one second to worst case scenario the next, Tracie has some amazing encouragement and practical wisdom on conquering our thoughts and attitudes!

4. Girls With Swords by Lisa Bevere

This book is getting cracked open this weekend friends! I am so excited about this one. I’ve been watching the launch videos and reviews about this. Any book giving me insight on conquering the devil and fighting back against his schemes is right up my alley. I’m sure this is going to be a winner.

5. An Untroubled Heart by Micca Campbell

I’m so excited about reading this book this summer because I know this sweet author personally!!! Friends, she’s the REAL DEAL! I cannot tell you how much her life has blessed mine. Micca’s story of love, loss and God’s faithful hand of restoration is amazing. Her life has changed mine, and when I tell you she has walked hard roads, it’s not even close to explaining it. Her faith, her story, and God’s grace in her life is amazing. You’re going to love reading about her life!

6. 12 Extraordinary Women by John McArthur

I’ve started this one already and working through it slowly in study. I’ve enjoyed the focus of studying women of the Bible, but friends, I gotta be honest…..now as a female writer I can totally see the difference in perspective and style between male and female writers. Particularly in the arena of women’s studies. It’s such an insightful read. But one I’ll be walking through slowly instead of devouring in one night 🙂

Well there you have it folks. This is what this girl is working through this summer. I’ve gotten 3 of them finished and can’t wait to finish the others.

If you’re interested in any of the books you can buy them all online through Amazon, just click the title and it will take you directly to the book link. (No, I don’t get any kickbacks or anything. Theses aren’t paid reviews either. Straight up just my reading list and helping friends along with links if they want them!)

Share with me in the comments below something you’re reading this summer that you are enjoying! I’m always on the hunt for the next good read…and as you can tell, I never have just one book on my nightstand!!!!!

Don’t forget to share the love by pinning this post to your Pinterest account or sharing on social media!
