Hair cuts, Icedreams and Coke

A slew of first day of school photos have passed across my social media feed. As I click like on all of them, I twinge with a shred of jealously….cause we aren’t quite there yet!

T minus 5 days my friends!!!! The end is in sight.

School begins soon and for the first time in almost a decade all my tiny humans will be at school for all or part of the day!

<insert Halleluiah chorus here!>

I ADORE my kids! I really truly do! By the time school lets out for summer I am thrilled to have them home full-time!

I love having lunch with them everyday, and lazy mornings and Netflix and pancakes in our pjs at 11:00 am. I love day trips to theme parks, beaches, splash pads, $2 movie theaters and we love meeting friends on a whim.

But y’all, I am done with summer.

D.O.N.E.

I have extinguished all my mom tricks. Everything to entertain the humans is finished. They are tired of their toys and I refuse to buy anything new. Netflix is overused and God forbid mom tell them to read something. And it is sooooooooo HOT outside that the park is miserable and swimming is now the only option for survival outdoors.

We are so ready for school! This mama is so ready for school.

(To whoever gets my children in school this year, it’s been a long summer you are going to score a sweet first day of school teacher gift, because on Monday you are my new super hero!)

So after wrangling kids at the hair salon for fresh hair cuts and one more trip to the mall for a uniform shirt, we have parked ourselves at CFA. It’s air-conditioned, they offer caffeine and thank the Lord, I can savor an ice dream cone as I watch my tiny humans run and play in the enclosed playground.

This is my current state of survival!
